Are you “home-skilled”? That’s what it’s called in my family, as a friend of my sisters was amazed by the amount of free time they had to become proficient in their hobbies. I did a little bit of everything: private school, public school, and home school. Home schooling was the best by far! I usually walked home from public school crying — not even over the way I was treated, but over the way so many kids treated each other and themselves. Government school also wasted the vast majority of my time each week, which was frustrating when there were so many things I wanted to learn and do. It did not prevent me from being a weirdo.
This is one of my all-time favorites, not because I want to “weaponize” any child but because that baby carrier is the best thing I’ve ever seen.
And now, some home schooling advertisements!
By the way, according to all the data: OPPOSITE.
Every German child age six and up is mandated to attend government school. So that’s neat!
Every time.
WHY ARE THERE SO MANY OF THESE WOMEN
“We just need to spend more money on teachers!”

No matter what your politics are, early childhood is no time to have the weight of the world on your shoulders.
FACT: The children Jaycee Dugard bore and mothered by her kidnapper were taught BY HER how to read in their backyard prison. When Jaycee and her children were rescued, the children tested above grade level for children their respective ages. Ha!
Oh—and recall Jaycee never went past fifth grade.
I completely agree with you about how horrible public school was. It was brutal—and it was brutalizing. Be bullied or be a bully yourself. Those were the options. Both are bad. I know now that there were potentially other options for getting along with others more harmoniously, but at the time we were savages who were being socialized by other savages.
