I am a former public school teacher that entered the field after years in the private sector working medicine and aerospace. After my public school experiences, I tell every parent that asks to homeschool their kids. If you can read your child's textbook, you can teach it and so much more. I ask parents, "Would you do anything for your child?" They always say yes. I then tell them, "Homeschool your kids." Sadly so many parents won't do it.

I went to a Catholic high school for my first two years. For Junior and Senior years I was at an *excellent* public school. The difference was astounding.
Yes. Public school is a waste of time and taxpayer dollars. Even something like Catholic school, which in my day was severely underfunded, is incredibly superior to even the best that public school has to offer (while still getting you made fun of).
My honors Algebra class from freshman year in Catholic school taught me everything I needed to know for my senior year calculus class in a public school. The farther you can get your kids from the Public school machine the better. And while homeschooling may be the best case scenario, not everybody has the chance to do it. Gradients exist.
PS: If my grandparents (who taught me to read when I was 3) had decided to homeschool me, I could have finished High School before puberty, though, to be fair, they would have probably murdered me long before then, lmao.

I did public, private, and home schooling. And while the overall data is more important than my personal experience, it certainly matches it in this case. Publix school blows.
I've mailed and ordered things by mail that completely disappeared and the U.S. Postal Service was just like, "Yeah it's gone forever and it's your problem." Once they delivered a damaged and empty package.
I've probably only lost two packages in 30 years. Usually inexpensive and one eBay seller gave me a discount or a refund. Maybe it depends on the route/area. I live in Illinois.

For me, the issue is more that there's no accountability unless I drop an extra $50 on insurance.
